Sugar Cookies







Sugar Cookie Saturdays + naps = the good life

Simple, fruitful and tasty, these cookies are weirdly addictive. Hello sun, hello cookie. What a beautiful way to start the spring season.



  • 2  ½ cups unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tsp vanilla)
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Sprinkles


  • 450g powdered sugar
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 tbsp cream of tartar
  • Food colouring


  1. Set oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper
  2. Cream the butter and sugar on low-medium speed until well incorporated, scraping down the bowl
  3. Add eggs slowly and mix well, scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix again
  4. Add vanilla and stir briefly
  5. Stir together your dry ingredients separately
  6. Add the flour mixture and mix on low for 30 seconds. Do not overmix
  7. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour
  8. Roll out your dough and cut shapes of your choice
  9. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Let cookies cool before icing
  10. Whisk together the cream of tartar and egg whites by hand for 30 seconds
  11. Add the sugar and mix on low for 10 minutes, or until the icing is of a preferable consistency
  12. Add food colouring of your choice until you have a colour you like
  13. Sprinkle decorations while the icing is wet and leave to set
